Nice One Dundalk

Throughout 2010, Dundalk Town Centre Manager Office will organise a comprehensive programme of events and initiatives to promote Dundalk as a shopping destination. These will focus on key calendar dates, including St. Valentine’s Day, Easter, Back to School, Hallowe’en and lots of retail-focused Christmas events. We are also launching an event guide to promote everything that is happening in Dundalk.

How?

In addition to shoppers, we are targeting key customer groups, such as secondary school and DkIT students, over 65’s, hotel guests, people that use leisure facilities and business owners.

Dundalk ‘Nice One’ Gift Card

Part of the service we are offering is to provide a gift card for the town of Dundalk that can only be used within the town of Dundalk. There will be no transaction fees for this gift card, however, only those retailers with the ‘Nice One!’ reader installed will be in a position to partake in this service. This is due to the technical requirements of the card: they are branded specifically for Dundalk.

Gift cards can be ordered online and purchased from the Town Centre Managers Office. Retailers can redeem gift card vouchers weekly at the Town Centre Managers Office.

‘Tap & Go’ Loyalty Programme

This scheme involves installing new hardware into all participating retailers. Customers can purchase special tags  which are read by this new hardware. Participating retailers devise their own special deals to offer to customers who have purchased these tags.

The customer taps their tag at the reader located at the point of sale. This allows the customer to redeem their voucher, receive a discount on their purchase, or gain loyalty points to redeem against a future purchase.

Customers involved in this programme are offered a range of promotions from their favourite shops, which allow them to quickly redeem the money spent on the tag!

‘Nice One!’ Dundalk Student Card

The student discount card scheme was created by the Comhairle na nÓg in Louth. It aims to provide secondary school students aged 14-18 years with automatic discounts in a number of stores throughout Dundalk. Students can purchase these student cards from their school and can be used to receive up to 10% off purchases from participating retailers. How does this scheme work?

The scheme focuses on regenerating interest in local shops, encouraging locals to shop in Dundalk, rather than shopping elsewhere. It also focuses on increasing the amount of footfall for retailers.
